I've balanced green Royston turquoise nuggets on sterling silver pendulums with tiny hearts as counterweights.
Royston turquoise comes from Nevada. Although these may appear heavy, they are deceptively light and comfortable (see the photo of me wearing them in my 60-year-old earlobes). They don't weigh the lobe down at all, because turquoise is a less dense, more porous stone, so it's not as heavy as it appears, making it perfect for earrings.
These have standard 20 gauge posts with wide flower clutch backs that keep them from drooping (see photo).
