These earrings were inspired by the vines in my garden and all the drooping seed pods at summer's end. These are made entirely of hand fabricated sterling silver. Each little leaf is sawn and filed to form the lobes. The veins in the foliage are formed using an ancient method called chasing. After a pre-polish to assure all of the components are smooth, I clean them and assemble and solder every component in place, giving special attention to the tips of the leaves so there will be no loose areas that would 'catch' or lift. I then burnish them and oxidize them to develop a dark patina, which I then remove in the areas I wish to highlight, leaving recessed areas dark to accentuate the details of my work.
